A remake of a game based on the cover art for Phillips Videopac 32. 

WASD to move, SPACE to jump, ESC or P for menu.

Race against the clock to gather clues to the purpose of your existence- but beware! There are other robots trying to stop you on the quest. Using your jumps can get you out of a pinch, but be careful because you only have a limited number of jumps.

This game was created for Cover-Up #6 game jam, and the goal was to create a game that more accurately represented the expectations the cover art suggested.

Sound effect assets were used under the Creative Commons license, and the music is public domain JS Bach that I converted into a retro midi tune using Logic Pro.

DEV NOTES: 

I had to bail on lots of plans to get this uploaded in time for the game jam deadline, but things I had planned that weren't realized include an opening screen and menu, better endings and animations, multiple interactions, more hazards, better hazard design, more pickups.

Power ups I had planned coincide with the clues the robot picks up along the way about its existence- the design of the robot in the cover art seems a little silly but I wanted to grant meaning for its design elements. On the head for example, the crazy feature looks like a lemon juicer, and the power up would be that the lemon juice makes you invisible to enemies. The mouth looks like a blowdryer, so the hairdryer clue and pickup gives you blowback and overheat attacks. The body looks l a clothing dryer, which could grant you discuises like enemy pajamas, or hide yourself with a bedsheet. The arms are like vacuum cleaners that will let you collect pickups from a range or suck yourself quickly to the wall you are facing for a fast dash.

Software used: Blender, Substance Painter, Substance Sampler, Adobe Audition, Photoshop, Illustrator, Logic Pro, and Unreal Engine 5.5.1

The only 3d model I did not build was the lemon juicer, which is an Adobe asset free for use.
